Nowadays more than ever with fast spreading worldwide economical crises is very important to implement innovative
approaches and creative ideas to educational systems which will foster new generation with the capability to reduce
growing unemployment, encourage healthy competitiveness and promote sustainable economy.
We need to discuss the importance of the Lifelong Learning Programme and its contribution to the development of
creativity, competitiveness and employability.
The conference is organized under the Czech presidency of the EU and it is linked to the European Year of Creativity
and Innovation 2009.
The general aim of the conference on the 7th May 2009 is to identify the role and impact of
creativity and innovation in the Lifelong Learning Programme and stimulate further process on how
the LLP contributes to Creativity and Innovation and on how it impacts on policy.
The conference will be opened by the Czech Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Ondřej Liška and
the Member of the European Commission responsible for Education, Culture, Training and Youth Ján
Figel´. More speeches will be presented by Mrs. Miroslava Kopicová, 1. deputy of the
Research and Development Council of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Dominique Langevin, an Ambassador of the
European Year of Creativity and Innovation and by Mrs. Odile Quintin, the Director General for
Education and Culture of the European Commission.
The Lifelong Learning Programme Awards
Part of the conference will be dedicated to awarding outstanding European projects or actions which will serve as a
good motivating example to wide public.
Awards will be handed over by the Czech Minister of Education Ondřej Liška and the European Commissioner for
Education, Culture, Training and Youth Ján Figel´.
Exhibition
Participants can visit an exhibition of photographs from a 2008 photo competition and postcards from the Comenius Week, which takes place between 20. 4. and 8. 5. 2009 in all 31 countries participating in the Lifelong Learning Programme. Furthermore there will be an exhibition of awarded projects in 6 categories under the Lifelong Learning Programme. The vernissage of the exhibition will be held on the 6th May at the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague at 5 p.m.

The official presentation of the Lifelong learning Programme Awards and the press conference will be held on the
7th May at Clarion Congress Hotel at 11 a. m.
